Supporting young people to rethink, refocus and succeed
In 2020, during the height of COVID-19 lockdown, young professionals and students used social media to reach out to Agnes Igoye seeking guidance and mentorship as they struggled to navigate the effects of COVID-19. As the numbers grew, Agnes responded by sending out a message on Facebook inviting anyone in need of mentorship to send Her a one-page message explaining why mentorship was needed, and thus that marked the birth of the Young Professional Mentorship Program (YPMP).
The first cohort of 23 mentees from Kenya, Mali, South Sudan, and Uganda began their free one-year mentorship journey via Zoom on August 16th, 2020. In a mix of zoom sessions, global guest speakers, and educational volunteer activities, Class of 2020 excelled, achieving goals beyond what they set for themselves. During their graduation ceremony, they resolved to pass on the opportunity to other young people to help them rethink, refocus, and succeed….
We believe every young professional holds the potential to make meaningful change, and with the right guidance, that potential can transform communities and inspire future leaders.
Through mentorship, leadership training, and global collaboration, IYPMI empowers youth to grow personally and professionally building a generation of confident, purpose-driven leaders shaping a better tomorrow.
We begin by connecting with passionate young professionals ready to grow and be mentored.
Then, we pair them with experienced mentors to build skills, confidence, and leadership.
Finally, we celebrate success, share stories, and inspire others to join the mentorship movement.
