Young Professional Mentorship Program
YOUNG PROFESSIONAL MENTORSHIP PROGRAM (YPMP)
The Young Professional Mentorship Program (YPMP) is the inaugural program of IYPMI launched during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 as a response to young professionals and students seeking guidance. Starting with a Facebook invitation from Agnes Igoye, the program has grown from its inaugural cohort of 23 in 2020 to a diverse alumni base of 89 young professionals from Uganda, Kenya, South Sudan, Zimbabwe, Ethiopia, Nigeria, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ugandans living in United States of America, Dubai and Lebanon.
The nine month hybrid program offers participants access to global guest speakers, peer interactions, networking opportunities, and mentorship from experienced professionals. Its inclusive approach, welcoming mentees from various fields such as law, medicine, engineering, and journalism, enriches the learning environment and fosters robust professional networks.
At its core, YPMP aims to bridge the gap between education and employment by equipping mentees with leadership and managerial skills to drive positive community change. Emphasizing volunteerism and leadership development, the program prepares participants to navigate workplace challenges and make meaningful contributions. With its tailored mentor-mentee mentorship structures, YPMP exemplifies a ripple effect of sustainable impact.
